Thank you all for the enthusiastic responses to our series of wonton wrap recipes. They are so quick and easy, aren’t they? Here is a bonus recipe if you still have wonton wrap left over. I serve this as dinner one night to my prairie grown husband, and he loved it!
Get a filet of fish, unfrozen and padded dry. Chop into chunks along with some wild mushroom and chives. Blend in a can of mushroom soup to make lasagna filling. No seasoning required as the can of mushroom soup carries all the seasoning needed for the dish. Line your oven-safe dish with wonton wrap and spread a layer of fish/mushroom filling. Repeat the layer: wonton wrap, filling, wonton wrap, filling, etc, until you filled the dish. Don’t forget to sprinkle your favourite cheese on top before baking in the oven for 20 minutes at 350c. Ta-dah! Dinner is served!
If you’ve seen the first 5 episodes of our wonton legend, you know by now its not necessary to drive to the store and use the exact ingredients. Experiment! Improvise! Go banana! Feel free to use pork, chicken, turkey, duck or even rabbit if you don’t feel like using fish. I was out of rabbit that day so I used fish.
If you don’t have wild mushroom in your kitchen, use any other kind of mushroom or onion instead. It’s okay to even go without any mushroom. What about mushroom soup? well, if you can go without mushroom, you can also go without mushroom soup. You do need some moisture to cook the lasagna. See if you can find in your pantry tomato soup, onion soup, carrot soup, or another other savoury creamy eatable stuff you can mixed into your lasagna filling. If you have any soup stock (liquid or powered), boil it with a teaspoon of corn starch will give you that creamy texture you need for this dish. See, no need to run to the store right?
What if you don’t have chives handy? Find other vegitable or herbs. Try onion, green pea, celery, parsley, green onions, bell paper, asparagus, corn, or string bean. You’ve got those right? Let’s be responsible adults here. You are not supposed to skip vegetables in your meals.
